Great Wall Street Journal Article on the State of Soccer (aka Football) in America PDF Print E-mail

Kay Rawlins of the Aztex FO forwarded an article to me today that she saw in the Wall Street Journal called "Are Americans Becoming Soccer Fans?" (by Matthew Futterman & Nick Wingfield) last week.

In my opinion, it's a really good article that discusses the position of soccer in America today, partly as it compares to other US sports franchises, but also the global football community.  Nothing too surprising, although I did like to see an article that wasn't all doom and gloom or condescendingly annoying about US soccer.  The only thing I didn't like?  The fact that the closest thing to a non-MLS professional league reference was, "As Major League Soccer, the leading American professional league...".

Oh well, better than a sharp stick in the eye...
